Debbie Wasserman Shultz
I already told you about one ridiculous Debbie Wasserman Shultz quote today: “We have to make sure that this is being paid for by folks who are not paying their fair share now.” But she had some other goodies in that same interview with Martha MacCallum. Here’s one example, in a discussion about pension reform. Debbie Wasserman Shultz states:
“To suggest that state pension plans for government employees are what’s dragging down these local and state governments is really unfair.”
The unfair part is that Debbie Wasserman Shultz is the spokeswoman for a party that just presented a jobs plan … meanwhile, she seems completely clueless as to what is actually happening in the real world. It didn’t take but a 0.03 second Google search to find that state pension funds face deficits of more than $1 trillion, according to the Pew Center on the States. Let’s take a look at just a few examples of how our states are currently fairing, many of which happen to be our largest economies …

Sadly, this was not the only instance in which Debbie Wasserman Shultz showed herself to be a complete fool. Just like last week, she continues to spout out this line, which most uneducated voters wouldn’t think twice about:
“The mantra that the Recovery Act didn’t work is such boloney … You can repeat it over and over, but to say that the recovery act didn’t work is simply false.”
It still astounds me that with a 9.1% unemployment rate (after being promised less than 8%) and 2.5 fewer Americans working (after being promised 3.5 million jobs), that this woman can sit there and actually say that the stimulus bill worked. Either she is completely braindead or an abject liar. In fact, in her spiel above, she actually says that Obama has enjoyed 18 months of private sector job growth … completely failing to mention anything about the fact that zero jobs were created in August. Zip. Not one mention of that little fact. Unbelievable.
